**To enroll in this class, students must be a graduate of the OTG Firearms Instructor or Patrol Rifle Instructor course**
The OTG Advanced Patrol Rifle Instructor Course is a comprehensive, 30-hour POST-certified instructor development program designed for experienced firearms instructors seeking to elevate the effectiveness and structure of their patrol rifle training programs. This course moves beyond basic rifle marksmanship and qualification preparation and focuses on refining how instructors teach, coach, and develop performance with the patrol rifle.
Built around a process-driven framework and principles-based methodology, this course explores performance-based shooting and why it should be a critical component of any law enforcement patrol rifle program. Modern duty environments demand a level of performance that goes beyond traditional qualification standards, and rifle training must evolve to meet that need.
Instructors will learn the skills required for high-level patrol rifle performance and how to build those skills into their training programs through structured, adaptive instruction. The course focuses on understanding why performance happens the way it does and how to develop consistent, on-demand capability with the patrol rifle.
Students will develop a deeper understanding of rifle-specific performance, including the integration of marksmanship, weapon manipulation, positional shooting, movement, and decision-making into a cohesive training program. Emphasis will be placed on developing shooters who can apply these skills efficiently and consistently in realistic law enforcement contexts.
The ultimate goal is to develop more capable, self-aware patrol rifle shooters and instructors who can perform under pressure and develop that same capability in others, not simply pass a qualification.
This is a shooting-intensive course. Students are required to have confidence in their shooting ability and possess a solid foundation in safe patrol rifle handling, manipulation, and marksmanship.
